I was currently running Vista Home Premium 32 bit on my HP PC but hard drive died on me, meaning it won’t spin and it won’t even show up in BIOS. I already gave up on that so I bough a new one. How can I install Vista on it ? I never made a recovery disc and I can’t restore my pc from that partition HP desktops have because my hard drive is completely dead. So here is the million dollar question.. Can I use my friend’s Vista CD to install Home Premium. Then when I am supposed the product key I put the key that is pasted on a sticker at the side of my HP PC ? Can I do that ? Will it allow me to do it ? HELP PLEASE!! THANKS

Yes and yes and yes. You're welcome.
Maybe not. The Dr may know better than me. Can't hurt to try tho.

Call HP Support at 1-800-474-6836 and ask them.

Yes, you should be able to if the serial key is for the right version of Vista.

Yes you can use your friends. You need to get her product key though because the disk has that key on it and if you put yours in it WILL NOT WORK. just write hers down and use it when you are prompted for it
hope This helps

You can try to use his install disc to install it & use your cd code, but I’m thinking that would only work if the install disc is the OEM version (which is what you have). If its the normal store version then it probably won’t work.
How new is the PC? You could call HP & see if they will send you the recovery disc

Yes, it should. As long as your friend either has an HP Vista Home Premium disc, or a Vista Home Premium disc that isn’t OEM, it will be fine. Then you’ll have to use your Vista license key from the sticker on your laptop to register.
