No more audio on Vista?

I have a laptop with Vista installed, and have had it for over a year now. Everything has been fine until yesterday, when my audio suddenly stopped working. It won't work with headphones, or with the speakers built into the laptop. No sound comes out of it, at all.

Can anyone help?

P.S. I have a SigmaTel High-Definition Audio CODEC.

If you are using bluetooth in your laptop make sure the default sound device is selected as sigmatel.
