No speaker icon on toolbar, even though I have codecs installed.?

I have a bit of a problem–I just got a new computer for work and the sound isn’t working. It should have integrated audio - under device management it says I have audio codecs installed, and I also know that Windows Audio is not stopped, but started. However it still says I have no audio devices installed, even though I have the speakers properly plugged in (and they work). Please Help!
