no volume control on gateway windows xp?

September 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment

i have a gateway computer. its windows xp. the otherday MS Antivirus popped up on my computer. and it is making my computer to go ALL haywire. the most annoying thing is that. when i push the fn+volume up button. the volume screen pops up, but the volume does NOT go up, it doesnt even show that its going up. does anyone know how to fix that. or how to remove MS Antivirus in general?

Use MalwareBytes to clean-up MS Antivirus and then run *goto run and type in ‘cmd’ and from the dos prompt type in sfc.exe /scannow* with any luck your computer will have the necessary files intact and saved on your hard drive otherwise you will need the restore disc that gateway provides with their machines. Also run chkdsk /r /f to take care of any other issues that WAV may have graced you with. If this fails you’ll have to restore.
