norton keeps giving me a pop up that says i have turned off my virus protection and i am vulnurable to virus. I clicked the bubble nothing is coming up so i clicked on norton and the protection center is saying everything is secure. Also it says that i turned off my norton firewall and enabled the windows firewall i used to have both running and working fine. just to note this only started happening when i got a virus. I scanned with three different scanners and they all found virus but i dont know if its the same one and when the scan finished i deleted it regular and rebooted the computer but norton is still messed up
cant i have both norton and avast?
also cant i have norton, avast, and bitdefender all together?

I don't really trust Norton since when i switched to BitDefender internet security, it found a virus. Norton uses alotcomputer memory usage. BitDefender has low memory usage.

Uninstall norton and get Avast.

You'll be glad you did.

Get avast anti virus: http://www.avast.com/
You rarely have to scan with it and when you get something serious like a trojan an alarm system with sound and it will give you the option to kick it's ass.
Quite fucking dandy.

Scanning with different virus scanners usually gets you to a dead end unless you're going through a set of very organized, structured procedures.
There are experts out there who do this analysis and give you exact steps to fix it. I consider myself an expert user of Windows and software (free/share/enterprise) and when I do run into those really sticky virus/malware problems, I can do a little to address it, but it never really goes away fully.
I'm OCD about these kind of things. So I tried these guys over at SWI forums and I was really impressed how quickly people really take the time to analyze your reports and give you step by step instructions.
Go to the source listed below. And FOLLOW the instructions–if you are going to try using other scans and solutions in the middle of your process with them, don't bother. I did that a few times and screwed things up.
Good luck. I listed some other sites that do the exact same thing. The key is to read the stickies first.

No you must uninstall avast straight away. If you have two AV programs they conflict with eachother thinking that oneanother is a virus. Uninstall avast as norton being the better one is better to keep.
