System keeps halting when I am running Internet Explorer. Sometimes it just turns off and closes out the window without an error mesage or anything. I checked NOrton and the last several scans lasted .01 seconds and didn't check any files. So I ran a full scan and it only scanned 3,747 files. What is up.. it should have run a scan on a few hundred thousand like usual. My computer obviously has been compromised, how do I get Norton to do a proper scan. Thanks in advance!
This is not a trial version. It ran scans of between 250,000 and 350,000 files for the last few years I have used it and only recently for the last month ran these unusual scans. I had to go and look at the log to know that that scans were not normal. And getting a different anti virus is not my goal at the moment, although I appreciate the suggestions. I am simply trying to see if anyone has knowlege about how to fix the anti virus I have right now. Also, their website email support is offline at the moment or I would have already tried them too. Thanks!

Maybe thats the only number of files you have, but i doubt that. Its probably a trial your using, and the trial is starting to end. I would do scans AFTER im done using the computer, or else it might slow the computer down. :]

Get McAfee. Norton has become a low rated anti virus solution.

Maybe it is just searching in a particular folder, you may try to configure the path. Norton is quite memory expensive and not so good, better try Avast, a great free antivirus, which is lightweight and quite good.
