I am running Windows XP, and my Norton antivirus did an automatic update yesterday, now I have all sorts of problems!!!
When I click on something while online that should open a separate window, it doesn't work. It doesn't seem to want me to run some of my online programs as well. I have tried turning my firewall off and reducing my security settings, but it didn't help.
My gmail is also acting up, saying Oops! error #009.
Also, I've tried a system restore, but it the system restore wizard won't run because it says no changes have been made since the dates I've picked (up to 2 weeks ago).
What can I do?????
Norton has now been uninstalled. But It's still telling me that my security settings won't allow me to run what I need to - and they are set to LOW. Ahhhhhhg!

Well hey, Norton is bad bad bad, because it's the most crappest software out there, so, you need to uninstall that norton system hog COMPLETELY!
start > panel control > add/remove programmes
Remove every norton product it says.
Then, download this amazing anti-virus remover, it's brilliant, it's free, doesn't hog your pc, updates automatically, protects your e-mails, messenger and internet:
http://www.avast.com
Afterwards, reboot into safe mode, options are here:

And log into administrator, if you can't, just log onto limited account and scan throughly with avast! anti-virus. Whatever it finds, either delete it, or place into the virus vault, depending on the files it is attacking.

Simple get rid of Norton, get revo uninstaller at download.com, when you use it use the secure delete method which will get rid of the Norton registry keys as well, if you let it Norton will take over your system after a while, I have never had any problams with AVG free antivirus it picks up on most everything, and it has automatic updates, Good luck.
