I have a laptop, after I installed norton, and restarted the computer, the icons would not come up, and it wouldnt read the hard drive either, so then in safe mode I uninstalled the norton live update program and then it worked better, the icons came but internet explorer would not close normally, I had to end it by selecting file and then exit. So then I uninstalled the Norton internet security itself and then everything became normal.
What do you think could be wrong with the norton internet security. the computer I am using is a toshiba portege with a pentium 3 processor and 512 mb RAM. Do you think that could be causing it. Could the software be corrupted.

Nortons horrible point blank the programs you should use are.
ad aware 2008
spybot search and destroy 1.6
superantispyware
and avg 8.0 free edition as an anti virus super spybot and avg can be found from download.com mail me at pwnage658@yahoo.com for ad aware link. good luck. norton always corrupts because its missing a compressed file so it causes it to go haywire over time. not to worry. use those programs for protection and your all set.
best regards.

I reckon your computer hasn't enough kick!
Pentium 3 is out of date and very slow compared to todays processors, and 512mb of ram is not recommended, you should be using at least 1gb of ram

The same thing happened to me and my mother in law when we installed Norton. It’s a piece of shit program that even Norton customer service and tech support doesn’t know how to fix. I couldn’t get onto MSN messenger after I installed it, it messed it right up and I ended up having to crash my computer right down and reformat windows. It was a nightmare that lost me a lot of pictures, all my music and all personal stuff off the computer. I spent 3 days on the phone with every computer repair place I could get ahold of to see if there was any way around reformatting. They all had the same opinion, I could either spend 2-3 hundred bucks getting them to try to fix it with no guarantees or I could reformat myself. Norton is a known joke and your honestly much better off with AVG free. It’s not your copy, it’s Norton itself.
