Sens. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) authored a bill (with 11 co-sponsors, including Sen. Barack Obama) that was incorporated into a housing bill passed by the Senate Banking Committee 19-2 before the Memorial Day recess — a bill that creates a national fingerprint registry.
According to a Martinez press release, the language merely “create[s] national licensing and oversight standards for residential mortgage originators.”
One of the standards, John Berlau of the Competitive Enterprise Institute says, may “require thousands of individuals working even tangentially in the mortgage and real estate industries — and not suspected of anything — to send their prints to the feds.”
This is a step in the wrong direction — at least for a nation that preserves freedom.

I agree but there are states that require a thumb scan before issuing a new drivers license. I'm not sure (I'll check in a second) but that might be part of the new "Real ID Act" which is just as intrusive and damaging to privacy issues.
That's what we're coming to though. Scary isn't it? It's odd that more people aren't aware of it and speaking out against it. But hey, I guess as long as someone says it will keep terrorists and the boogie man away it's a great idea!
If you think that one is scary… check out this:
S. 1858: Establishment of National Newborn DNA Database
Sponsor: Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn)
(actually called "The Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007" which sounds more friendly)
WTF does the Government need baby DNA for? Oooh I bet it's to help find them if the boogy man or a terrorist ever takes them. Ahh.. that's okay then too! Who cares that the bill allows for "genetic experiments and tests" on that DNA.

I agree. One of my friends seriously feels that Obama is the anti-christ. The more things I read about him and the more I think about the bible and whatnot, the more realistic that sounds. Although I am sure that he probably isnt, it does seem strange. As for the fingerprint registry= ridiculous.

Paranoid much? You trying to hide something?
So they want your fingerprints in a database, I see no harm in that. I'm sure it would be helpful for law enforcement.
Maybe I have already been brainwashed….Somebody help me…
