Is there any way to fix it? It installed fine, but when I press play, a small box appears in the top-left hand corner of the screen, and disappears. Then a box in the middle comes up saying "Oblivion has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to this problem." Then it stops, and the box changes to "Oblivion has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found." And there has been no solution for 10 hours…help?
PS. It is the GOTY edition (Game of The Year).
-Thanks

What does work on Vista young man? I took it off all my computers and went back to Win XP Pro. They can keep that disaster. Vista is as bad as Bob. (If you aren't familiar with Bob that was a failed Microsoft O.S. you can find it on Wiki).

Double check the system requirements for the game and make sure your Vista machine meets them. It could very well be that one component (usually the graphics card) falls short of the requirements. Find out what your system needs to have to run the game, then address it accordingly. If you're getting the standard Microsoft error message (the one that always asks you if you want to send a report) then I would say your graphics card isn't one of the ones on the list that can run the game. Double check this in your DirectX diagnostic tool. (Start>run>type directx)
