Okay, I need help! I don't know which virus protection to use? I want to use Avast home or Avira antivir.?

I don't know which one is the best out of the two? I want to use something that will secure my computer every second and notify me if I'm downloading a bad file which Avast does with a siren sound. I haven't seen that with Avira yet. I also know that Avira has *slightly* better detection rate. Is that true? So please help me find the right program for me.
