I have the free McAfee Security Suite that comes with Comcast. I kept getting an icon in the system tray saying I’m not protected so I contacted tech support & he said to uninstall SPYBOT, SUPER ANTISPYWARE & SPYWARE BLASTER:

I installed Windows Defender & I haven’t had any problems so far. I had installed Malwarebytes, but it ended up doing the same thing a few days later.
If you have the McAfee Security Suite what AntiSpyware programs were you able to install that were compatible & you had absolutely no problems with? Or is the McAfee Security Suite come with an AntiSpyware program, too & I don’t really need another AntiSpyware program?

Other anti spyware may conflict, you can still have them installed but not running at the same time. Some applications run as a service and the scanners can create false positives or depending on settings can block other programs to run effectively.
You can go to Control panel Admin tools Services and look for the anti spyware programs and switch their start sessions to manual instead of automatic ( for the ones you want to have installed but not run until you manually execute them) also you can add exception to the McAfee suite to allow the programs to execute. Now, the icon that you state can also be a windows security notification that it can’t detect the protection your using - if so double click on it and see if you can add the exception of stating you’re using a third party software to protect you system.
