My computer is taking forever to startup!
I purchased an HP pavillion over the summer that's running Vista. Before i installed Panta Antivirus / Firewall the computer had a temporary Norton Antivirus program running. The startup would take about 60 - 90 seconds.
Now that I have Panda Antivirus / Firewall running ( just upgraded to 2008 ) the computer takes over 3 minutes to startup.
Does anyone know how to speed up the startup?
Thanks for your responses. I did run the Norton uninstall program, and made sure all traces of norton were off my laptop before i installed Panda ( Panda wouldn't install unless Norton was off the system ).
Could the conflict be Windows Defender? Does anyone know if turning off windows defender at launch will affect a system running a antivirus / firewall program?

First you need to make sure that you UNINSTALL norton antivirus program from your add/remove program list or the program list using the Uninstall method. After you have remove nortons completely, then try and Reinstall your Panda Antivirus program. I want to also mention that it is going to be hard removing nortons program (all of it) but don't give up, give it a try. If you have more than one antivirus program install and running, they will conflict with each other( slowing down your computer, causing programs to run slow , all kind of problems, etc.) You might have to get intouch with symantec in order to finish uninstall nortons. Good Luck

click the start button and type msconfig into the start search box.
This will bring up the system configuration panel. Select the 'start up' tab and see how many programs start when windows boots up. Un-check all the programs you don't need in the boot up process which is everything except your anti virus program.
This will not affect the operating system. These programs force start themselves on boot up slowing down your PC.
If you uncheck anything you must reboot your PC. Click 'yes' to the dialog box that will appear AFTER boot up confirming your changes.
Also run the norton removal tool
