PC Performance Questions - What to do when PC and Internet are running slow?

I’ve a PC that’s over 5 years old… I don’t want to get rid of it since it’s sufficent for internet surfing. Recently, the PC and internet have been going slow and some web pages don’t load correctly. I attempted to clean the disk but it took forever and never finished before it froze up. Do I -

- Keep trying to clean the disk and defragment?

- Reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything?

- anything else?

Okay so your best bet is to try and defragment but don’t use the windows defragment use this one http://www.auslogics.com/disk-defrag it works so much faster than the windows one and does a better job.If then that doesent work you only other choice is to reformat the disk.
