systems can be indications of a greater problem. These are some steps that can help you clean up your computer and speed up performance.
Try…
First, boot into Safe Mode. To boot into safe mode press F8 while the computer is starting up and selecting “Safe Mode” using the keypad.
1) Download and run a program called CCLeaner. It can be found at CCleaner.com and it is really good at cleaning out your Temp Internet Files, Temp Files, Old Program Traces and emptying your Recycle Bin.
2) Go to the Control Panel (Start->Control Panel) and find “Add/Remove Programs” look through this list and uninstall any old programs you installed. Be careful; don’t uninstall something if you don’t know what it is.
3) Do some virus scans. I recommend the following: Avast! (www.avast.com), AVG (free.grisoft.com) and Avira (www.avira.com). If you would rather go with a pay-for antivirus I suggest Nod32, BitDefender or Kaspersky. Remember: Only have one antivirus installed on your computer.
4) Do some general Malware scans to ensure that you don’t have any adware or spyware. Good signs that you have one of these two are system sluggishness and frequent popups though you have a popup blocker. Some good applications are Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org), Ad-Aware Free (www.lavasoft.com) and a for-profit product called SpySweeper.
5) Reboot.
6) Run CCleaner again to remove any final traces of stuff.
7) I suggest you download the Comodo Firewall (www.comodo.com). Firewalls block certain ports often exploited by hackers and different forms of Malware. They are really handy. Note: You should only have one Firewall installed and running on your computer. Please disable the Windows Firewall in the Control Panel if you decide to do this.

Well first off try running avg anti virus and spybot.
But I think the main problem is either windows update KB947864 or google toolbar.
To to add/remove programs in control Panel and look for both of these and remove them. Wouldnt hurt running the spyware and virus scanner anyway though

there are two causes of a system running slow.
1} Your computer is attacked by a trojan horse or a malware thats eating up the process in the background.
2} Normal wearing of the systems tweaked performance as time passes.
For problem 1 please use AVG 8.0 anti Virus and scan your comp. It is for free so need not worry.:
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition#tba2
For problem 2 the procedure is long with guaranteed results.
1) Defrag your system.
2) Install PC booster
http://rapidshare.com/files/111213915/PC_Booster_2008_v1.0.0.1__Retail_.zip
3) Open the program and auto tune.
4) Restart.
Your configurations will be tweaked
None of this work :(. Then it is probably a virus with a new variant or string that looks harmless to an anti virus. In thes case try system restore.
should work.
Format is your ultimate option for performance. I do it every month.

Hi,
Most probably your machine has been infected by malware. That was my nightmare for the last two months. I tried every possible way from anti spy-ware to anti-viruses.
I followed procedures and switched to safe-mode running anti spy-ware unsuccessfully.
Then…
I used Spybot from this link http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
It's easy to use, at leased cleaned up my machine from something called malwarealarm and now browsing got easier. I didnt go to safe-mode either.
Good Luck!
