Thank you all for your answers. Based on the information I downloaded the following software on my laptop (Window Vista OS).
(1) Avast antivirus
(2) SuperAntiSpyware
(3) Spyware Blaster
(4) Advanced Windows care Personal
(5) Comodo Firewall Pro
After the installation I noticed;
(1) laptop was not able to boot
(2) then it took extremely long time to boot but not 100%
(2) could not locate "Control panel" on my laptop
(2) it did not recognize the wireless internet connection available
I then started in "safe mode" and restore in pre-installation mode. It is now working fine. Any suggestions? Did I not do something correct?
I followed the direction as in the following answer from by PcGuru on yahoo answer. In fact, this answer is voted "the best" by readers!!!!
"
* Here is totally free complete bundle… I have the same.. And highly recommend these programs…
* Clean and Protect your PC.
Security is a three tier affair, one firewall, one anti-virus and as much adware/spyware removal software as you feel needed?
* Avast antivirus
* SuperAntiSpyware
* Spyware Blaster
* Advanced Windows care Personal
* Comodo Firewall Pro"
I believe I should have followed the direction more carefully…!!! Anyway, thank you for your answers.

Lol you need to just choose one or a few (if they have different functions that don't overlap). Installing so many different antivirus/antispyware programmes on your computer is detrimental for your system as they all try to override one another. Every antivirus system wants to be the Big Boss. Try keeping one of them and see what happens.

You probably need more memory, trying to run all that stuff.

Get one antivirus suite like Kaspersky Internet security Suite or AVG internet security suite. it has all that.

Try starting your computer in safe mode and uninstalling all of the thing you put in. A few things could be happening.
1) You should only run ONE version of Antivirus at a time. Most conflict with eachother. You can run one and do online scans such as Trend Micro House Calls.
2) You may have loaded a program that is not from a legit site and has a virus/trojan on it.
Start small with this stuff and think about paying for something such as Symantec Norton or McAfee.

Just get only one program that does it all. Like Internet Securities. The best is Norton 360 as it has anti-virus, backup, anti-spyware and other stuff like compression etc. If you're getting a Security Suite (Norton Internet Security 2008, which I use) get that and another program called Prevx http://www.prevx.com/
