I was entering a website for a magazine I subscribe just to check to see when my subscription was up ~ the name of the magazine is VIBE ~ which is hip hop magazine primarily about music ~ anyway I though the webite was www.vibe.com (it's actually vibemagazine.com) ~ so when I entered that a bunch of "adult videos" pops up (I immediately exited as it was X-Rated) so I wasn't there but for a second but I guess that's all it takes ~ NOW when I get on my computer to do anything all these pop-ups about spyware, virus, privacy, etc pop-up one after the other ~ I am worried but should I be ~ what should I do the pop-ups tell me to clean my computer with numerous software ~

go here and get the free version… http://www.superantispyware.com install it and scan your computer. it will proably take care of it. if not, reboot into safe mode and scan with that and your antivirus. sometimes the scans work better in safe mode because whatever it is that's doing this won't have a chance to start up.
hope this helps.
p.s. if you don't have good antivirus, go to download.com and get avg free antivirus. it's free and good.

sounds like some spyware big time. I will say however it may just be a timing thing and not at all related to their website.
this is what I would do.
download adaware from download.com
install it, then reboot your computer in safe mode.
(power the pc all the way off then while it is turning on start tapping f8 until the menu appears and choose "safe mode"
run a scan and remove any infected files
maybe this video will help

Download Ad-Aware SE from http://www.lavasoftusa.com.
A majority of pop-ups that tell you that you have spyware are in fact, spyware themselves. DO NOT CLICK any of the information in these popups.
After you download Ad-Aware, install it, run it to update the software definitions and reboot in "Safe Mode", this can be done by pressing F8 right before the Windows screen comes up. Press it continuously until it gives you the menu to select safe mode.
Once you have entered safe mode, run Ad-Aware on the computer and let it clean everything it finds. Reboot into "Safe Mode" again!!! Run Ad-Aware one more time and then return to normal use of your computer.
Hope this helps!

Try the easy stuff first:
Delete all cookies, temporary internet files, and history. You may also want to remove Temp files while you're at it, but that won't solve this problem. See if the number of pop-ups is reduced afterward. If not, look in add/remove programs to see if you have any 'new' apps. You can always take the others' advice if this quick-and-easy stuff doensn't work. Hope this helps…

Get Super Anti-Spyware and update and run it. You will find lost of stuff to clean up. Then, run SAS again, and remove the next batch. And so on, until there's nothing left to remove. Then download CCleaner and clean up the Registry and run the system cleanup, again repeating until nothing new shows up. Finish by defragmenting your Hard Drive.
If you don't have a good firewall, try Zone Alarm Free Edition, because it has some browser protections in addition to the usual firewall protections. And use firefox as your browser. It is harder to hijack than Internet Explorer, in spite of the IE Phishing Filter.
BTW, VIBE is a legitimate magazine, and a reputable website, but their ads may have gotten hijacked by some hackers. Sorry this happened to you — you seem to have done nothing wrong.

1. Those pop ups are just that, pop ups. They are just advertisements and have no idea if you have spyware on your computer or not.
2. It is smart to have spyware removing programs on your computer. Two of the most popular and free ones are Ad-Aware (http://lavasoftusa.com) and Spybot S&D (http://safer-networking.org)
3. If you aren't using Firefox, I suggest you do. If you are, turn on the pop up blocker. (Tools > Options > Content > Checkmark "Block pop-up windows" > OK)
4. Virus scanners are a must these days. If you don't already have one, a good free one is AVG (http://free.grisoft.com). Download, install, update, and scan.
5. Keep all of these things up to date.
If you do these things you shouldn't have too much to worry about, just watch where you go and more importantly what you click and what you download.

on top of the spywear removel you may want to down load cwshredder and run it..you have to save it to your computer instead of clicking on run when you download it (it's free) it can get rid of some things that are hard to get rid of like porn sites that send you popups

Hello K.C.,
It sounds like the website you visited downloaded a rogue malware program. It will take a specialized program to remove this infection.
Simply uninstalling the program will probably still leave the computer infected.
A couple of months ago, I accidentally downloaded a program from somewhere that infected my computer with malware.
My malware infection was so bad, I thought that I would have to get a new computer.
It wasn't until I found a website in google that gave honest review of spyware and malware removers that I found AdwareAlert.
I downloaded and registered it, and I couldn't be happier. It removed my malware infection, and also a couple spyware infections I didn't even know I had.
It has kept my computer running fast, and spyware free for a couple of months now. I highly recommend it.
The website I found can be visited below.
