* Restart your computer

* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.

* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear

* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

* Login as a user with administrator privileges.

# When your computer has started in safe mode, and you see the desktop, continue with the rest of the instructions.

# Click on the Start button and then select the Run option.

# In the Open: field type C:\Program Files\ and then press the OK button.

# When the folder appears, if it says These files are hidden, click on the Show the contents of this folder option.

# When the C:\Program Files\ folder opens, look through the list of folders and when you find the folder named XPAntivirus left-click on it once so it becomes highlighted.

# Then hit the Delete button on your keyboard and when it asks if you are you want to delete the folder, click on the Yes button with your mouse.

# When the folder is deleted, reboot your computer back to normal mode.

do you have a antivirus program you should use it kaspersky is really good……..i don't think it will work though…..try making a system recovery you should have made system recovery disks from when you got your computer…….if not your in some deep sh*t not really you can still make a recovery but you will have to reinstall everything i don't think there is much you can do you should have an antivirus or spysweeper and it should be updated every year

PS. you should buy kaspersky internet security it's works really well for me it's really good i recommend you buying it buy it at your local best buy the price should be about $79.99 + taxes

      SCAN YOUR computer i repeat

these are a few to choose from. Any of these scans should remove the virus, then you should install an antivirus program.

I'd recommend using Spyware Terminator. Very good antivirus in my opinion. Should detect almost all viruses on your computer.

Spy-Bot search and destroy will detect and remove this scum. Use safe mode. Get it here; http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/

AVG will not remove it because its not a virus. It is an extortionate spyware program. Spy-bot is one of the best free anti-spy programs available and a must for internet users. Make sure you check for updates as soon as you download the program. Then restart the computer in safe mode, open spy-bot and check for problems.

Unregister XP Antivirus 2008 DLL Files:
      shlwapi.dll
      wininet.dll
Unregister DLL in Windows XP or Vista

Sometimes we need to unregister a dll file to troubleshoot a problem in Windows XP or Vista. Here’s how to do it:

      1. From Start –> Run, type “cmd” then click on Open.
      2. Type “regsvr32 /u filename.dll” where “filename” is the name of the file that you like to unregister.

Please keep in mind that this involves system modification and can be highly risky. It’s always recommended to keep a system backup handy, in case things go wrong.

      Stop XP Antivirus 2008 Processes:
      XPAntivirus.exe
      XPAntivirusUpdate.exe
      xpa.exe
      xpa2008.exe

      ————————————————————————-
Stopping a Process in Windows XP or Vista

Why would you need to kill a process in Windows XP or Vista? We sometimes need to stop a process to diagnose a system problem, such as removing Spyware or computer viruses. One of the easiest yet most efficient way to accomplish this is to use the built-in Task Manager in Windows XP or Vista. Here’s how you do it:

      1. Press “Alt+Ctrl+Delete“, then click on “Task Manager“. You can also launch the Task Manager instantly if you press Ctrl + Shift + ESC simultaneously. This is much easier than accessing it from Ctrl + Alt + Delete or the taskbar. It works for both Windows XP or Windows Vista.
      2. Select the process that you want to stop, then click on “End Process“.

It’s advised not to stop a system process. Stopping a system process can cause the computer to hang or freeze up.

Basic Registry Editing in Windows XP/Vista

Editing registry key can be very complicated and highly risky. Please do NOT try this unless you are absolutely positive that you might mess up the system, and as always, it’s highly recommended that you do a backup of the registry (or whole system) before making any modifications.

Since it would take hours to talk about the registry, I am just going through the very basic steps. You can always refer to the Microsoft website or books for full details. Here’s the most common steps you might ever need to know for basic troubleshooting:

      For Windows XP:

      1. In Windows XP, from Start, and then click on Run.
      2. Type “regedit“, then click on OK.
      3. Now it opens the Registry Editor.
      4. You can easily navigate through the subkey if you know what you are looking for. Or, you can press “Ctrl + F” to locate the subkey that contains the value you want to edit. (F3 to Find Next)

      For Windows Vista:

      1. From Start, then type “regedit“.
      2. Click on “regedit” on the search result to open the registry editor in Windows Vista.
      3. Step 3 & 4 are the same as Windows XP (see above).

That’s all you need to know for basic editing such as removing spyware or troubleshooting a basic Windows problem.
