      Get rid of Antivirus 2008

      Then scan again with SpyBot.

I swear by Nod32. It's fast, effective, and doesn't slow down my computer. You should be able to get a working trial version.

" We find that XP Antivirus 2008 (Unregistered Version) is badware because it makes deceptive claims of system vulnerabilities in order to induce users to purchase the full version of the software, because it interferes with normal computer use by automatically running a background process which repeatedly prompts the user to take a previously declined action, and because the software cannot be uninstalled using the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool, or without downloading an additional uninstaller.

In trying to contact the producer, Innovagest 2000, we noted that the support address for XP Antivirus 2008, support@xpantivirus.com, bounced as “user unknown.” (We did find another address for the company, support@innovagest2000.com, that worked, but we did not receive a response.)"

Get a program called Kaspersky Or Nod32 (You can get the trial version of both and it will remove them without asking for a credit card.)

But you really should look into getting a good full-time virus removal program, like one of the two that I mentioned. run a scan at least once a week and pay attention to what you download and what websites you go to

What you have there is a rogue program. There is no legal copy of Antivirus 2008 on the market. Antivirus 2008 is a rogue anti-malware program that displays false results and requires you to first purchase the software before you can remove anything. When installed, Antivirus 2008 will scan your computer and list a variety of infections found on your computer. It tells you more about this crap program in the link down below.

Antivirus 2008 is a scam and must be removed. It IS malware itself.
