i personally prefer avira, avast's interface is dorky as hell, they try to be too fancy, avira is easier and simpler, and has a better detection rate.
what say you??

avast free vs avira antivir free
1/avira antivir free: easier to use than avast,quicker scanning,no conflict with armour firewall,easy to set up/easy GUI to understand simplified,less cpu use scanning than avast.Annoying occasional nag screen to upgrade to paid version!.
2/avast free:needs registering after 60 days(easily done),easy to install,conflicted with armour firewll on (latest avast program update)messed up pc,de-activated windows xp security centre,messed task manager,locked pc up,would not shut down,prevented icons loading in toolbar,blocked startup programs from running.No nag screens to upgrade.
Used avast for long time with no problems must say,i like the free av good auto updating,voice actuated on updated!
I have switched to avira antivir today to re-evaluate it as before when i had some years ago i must say it i had problems with updates and pc lockups,also gaurd de-activating without notice,hopefullt all are fixed now!.
Done a full scan of c/d hard drives antivir no detections good so far.
Done full scan previously with avast no detections.
