I downloaded AVG and want to remove “Power-Antivirus” from my computer. When I try to delete/remove it from Program Files folder, I get the following message:
“Error deleting file or folder. Cannot delete Power-Antivirus-2009.exe: Access is denied. Make sure the disc is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.”
I guess the program is always in use or something like that and perhaps that is why i can not remove/delete it. What should I do to remove this program from my computer once and for all? THANKS.

select run from startmenu and type msconfig
then go into the tab that controls startup programs and deselect that program so that it wont load on reboot.
then try removing it with add/remove programs

Power Antivirus 2009 is a rogue antivirus program. Power AntiVirus 2009 displays false information stating that you are infected, when your really not infected, while not allowing you to remove anything unless you first purchase the software. Next time check to see if the software you want download is on download.com, if it is, its safe.(As Power Antivirus 2009 is not)

Use System Restore to restore back to before you installed the program. this only works on windows based computers NOT macs

Power Antivirus 2009 is a rogue anti-virus program and clone of Win Antivir 2008. Once Power Antivirus 2009 infects a system, it sends a notification via popup balloon, various fake warning alerts and false scanning report. It prompts the user to purchase a registered version of the software in order to remove the reported threats.
