I have a Windows XP PC and a windows vista laptop which has wireless internet connectivity. I have detected the xp on the laptop but when I try to connect it it asks me for the username and password. I have tried my username and password for the laptop but it doesn’t work. I’ve tried the XP username and left the password blank but still it doesn’t work (I don’t have a password for the XP)! I’ve also tried the username and password admin -still doesn’t work. How do I find out the username and Password?
P.S I’ve disabled Password Protected Sharing on vista

What is the user name and password for the file sharing or printer sharing… What was the UN an PW assigned when you set up sharing? That’s what’s being asked…

Check the share properties on the XP, what accounts have access to it? Test by setting share and NTFS permissions to everyone full control. Can you connect now? If so, yank those perms, if you want, and select just the accounts you want to have access to the share. These are accounts on the XP computer.
This should help resolve the issue. Plus make both computers members of the same workgroup.
