Problem connecting monitor to HP Pavilion desktop ?

September 10th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I have just bought an HP Pavilion desktop. With my old desktop I had to connect my power cable in through my desktop and then out to my monitor. When I tried to connect it to the new desktop I discover there is only one power plug on the back of the tower unit. Can anyone suggest how I connect my new desktop to my old monitor?
Thanks. I've done that and it's now working however my keyboard doesn't work now. The tower unit I purchased has had it's hard drive wiped I was going to install windows but when I try to press ctrl alt del nothing happens.

“With my old desktop I had to connect my power cable in through my desktop and then out to my monitor.”

This is very old technology. Few, if any, new PC’s have an 120 AC out port for a monitor.

Your old monitor should have also come with an 120 Volt AC cable to plug directly into a wall plug. If not, get one from The Source / Radio Shack.
