My laptop came with vista ultimate 64 bit installed on it, and i have created a second partition of my hard drive to install XP pro on. I have formatted my hard drive and tried to install XP several times, but every time XP tries to rn all of the files and gets to the part right before it says “windows is starting up” or something like that, I get the blue screen of death and an error at the bottom of the page that says:
STOP: 0×0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0×00000000, 0×00000000)
I have googled this error code thing and basically have been running around the web for hours in search of a solution but have found nothing… can anybody help me with what that error means and how I can solve it? thanks!

Yes, Windows XP likes to be in the first part of the disk.

Did you try making Partition 1 Windows XP and then Partition 2 Windows Vista??
If that doesn’t work, it may not be possible to have the Windows OS in the second partition.

this could be because you are using a sata hdd. if you are, then search for a tool that will let you insert the drivers into the install disks. this is what happened to me. I don’t know if you have the same problem though.

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
