I have AVG Free 7.5 on my computer and am trying to reinstall AVG Free 8.0. Whenever I try to uninstall 7.5 or install 8.0, the (un)installation never gets anywhere and I get this message:
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file _AVG7_avgamsvr.exe: stopping service….
Service Avg7Alrt failed to progress during stopping at checpoint 7 (wait hint 3100 ms) in 83125 ms.
Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix it? Expedient replies are appreciated

Download and save AVG free 8.0.
Go to add & remove programs in control panel and remove AVG, or it may be under the name of "Grisoft".
Then go to My Computer and click on C:\ drive and open Program Files and find the folder that is named "Grisoft", right click on it and delete it.
Reboot your computer.
Install the new AVG free.

Grrr i have had that problem on my kids computure before an i had to recover the computure to do that but that was years ago try going into search an search for the avg an delete it from there in a lacations sentive an everywhere then try reinstaling it after a fresh reboot also u may try the uninstaller for that producket have to download it but u also can get this one alot of peeps use an is very good heres the link an its also free hope its not the same one dont think it is

the free one ofcourse an take of your pop up settings first then after u update it reaply your pop ups ok hope it works god bless good luck
