remove all virus scanners and install avg free & spybot search and destroy available at http://www.download.com, norton and other larger scanners take up incredible amounts of your systems memory if this is a second hand computer and couple years old this could be whats causing your problem among other things

if you know how to format the computer, then i would recommend format and reinstall windows / avg & spybot. you will recover the speed back just remember virus scanners put themselves into memory without you know and requires it to do behin dthe scene scanning.

format reinstall the way to go, don't waste your time doing anything else u will get frustrated.

      cheers brad

      Hi! Pratul,

You need to uninstall Window Defender because it would hang up Norton.

You should follow the basic procedure:
      1. Disable your system restore
      2. update the anti-virus software
      3. full scan your computer and delete all the files detected as Downloader.
      4. Clear Internet Explorer History and files, if needed.

Next time when anything asked you to do an on-line scan or download anything for malware etc. just don't click on it. You have to trust your own anti-virus, e.g. Norton.

You have to use other browser e.g. Firefox, Opera and Safari. All can save you a lot of time.

IE is only for Windows Update. You also have to set the security level of IE to medium high.

A simple solution would be using another browser before doing anything else!!
It could just be a simple popup !! Firefox is a free browser and can be used with Internet Explorer and has excellent popup blocker and other builtin security features which will compliment your exisiting security programs.

      Firefox.

If this does not work "then" do what others suggest!!
