I’ve read a lot of solutions in an attempt to fix these problems but no joy yet.
I recently installed Sims 2 on my new laptop which has Windows Vista. Since then I’ve had loads of problems and have reinstalled countless times. I’ve tried running in administrator mode, compatibility mode, installed all the patches, turned off user restrictions & changing the affinity of the process etc. To start with the game would only load one neighborhood and even then only certain households before crashing (sometimes on loading screens, sometimes just as the household loaded, a black screen). Some households work one day but break the next. Now the game doesn’t even get to that stage, on the splash screen a message appears saying ‘The application has crashed. The application will now terminate’.
Any help very much appreciated!

I have the same problem with my Sims games.
Everytime I play everything goes great as long as I completely reinstall everything right before. As soon as I quit playing everything is screwed up.
I hope someone can give you a good answer, I’ll be checking back.
