For the last 2 weeks or so my McAfee Anti-Virus protection has been popping up with that little window at the bottom with the red X in it saying that my computer is not fully protected. I click on it and it just freezes so I can’t see what is wrong. I then have to redownload it from Comcast and then it’s fine………..for a few days. Until now, For the past 2 days I am constantly having this problem. Rebooting doesn’t help, reinstalling it doesn’t help (well it does for about 10 minutes and then that little box with the red X comes up saying that the computer is not fully protected and to click on it to find out what’s wrong but again it freezes).
Anyone ever experience this? If so, what did you do? Could this be some sort of virus causing this or what?
I am at my wits end and I’m getting tired of this. I can’t use Norton on my computer because several years ago my computer got hacked, all permissions were taken away and when I tried to uninstall it, the program would only partially uninstall so I could not reinstall any new Norton. Other than backing up every freakin’ thing on my computer (that would take centuries) and then starting from scratch what can I do?
Any help, advise, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!
I'll give those a try when I get home tonight. Thanks! My McAfee is actually free through Comcast and I did uninstall the whole thing last and then reinstalled it but this morning that stupid little red X popped up saying it was not protected again! Ugh! Thanks again for the programs to try! <keeping fingers crossed that they work!>

download a free AV like AVG, AVAST or ANTIVIR, also download malwarebytes (just google it) all free programs.. then run scans.. if theirs nothing found, McAfee might just be corrupt. get rid of it if so.. because the free ones are good enough..
