Don't know which version I have, It came with my computer which I got 1-07.In norton security online I found a RISK LIST with items to be excluded from scan. There is a long list. Where did it come from? many names start with adware such as adware av system care, mess stopper, my porno, key steal and many more that look suspicious to me and I don't know anything about computers. Should there be a long list of things in signature exclussions under Internet security and firewall settings? Here there is another long list with checks some I recognize such as quicktime and apple but many I don't and none did I put there because I wouldn't have known how to. I keep thinking something is still in my computer(i had a trojan which norton says it removed) Can anyone help me understand what's going on here.? Thanks in advance.

Well, first of all…people claim (retail stores) that norton is great…Esp the store I work at , we have to take a test on selling norton, I don't pay attention to that crap because I know norton sucks, and I will most deffinently suggest what I feel is the best..Which retail wise is Kaspersky in my opinion.
It detects things that norton does not, and protects you from much more.
There is also Nod32, but thats not available retail, yet. Try downloading either of those and test them out, just remember to uninstall norton before you install either of the other virus software.
Run a scan with either nod32 or kaspersky, and I can almost garuntee it will find things on your pc, that you didn't even know were there..Unless you're going to websites that you know are completely trustable, all of the time..and not downloading random things..
Norton could say it was removed, but i've personally seen a computer at work where we did a virus scan on someones pc, found two viruses, removed them…rebooted and they were there again, that happened alot of times…So there was some other file in the computer regenerating these viruses and spitting them out to different portions of the pc…
Good luck, I hope this helped…and I hope you change your mind about Norton, I think its a very horrible product compared to the other ones i've used/tested.

you dont need to worry, just run the scans and delete everything it says to
the risk list is files for finding virus. even if they are old, they may be on a disk somewher so they are still needed.

It seems like that trojan may have changed settings in Norton to make it easier for said trojan to connect to the internet and download even more malware to your computer. Of course Norton detected the trojan but the damage was already done.
Modern trojan downloaders are smart, they do this kind of stuff.
(You should also check your Internet Explorer Trusted Zone and make sure that the malware didn't add any malicious web-sites there, as well. Click Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Zone > Sites.)
Personally, I would uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool from the Norton / Symantec website.

Then I would re-install Norton using the Norton disc. Let Norton fully update and run a full system on-demand scan. But of course YMMV.
Good luck.
