question on credit card security?

hi
how does this work
when ever i tried to setup automatic monthly payment with tmobile,it asks for my credit card and within seconds it verifies whether the card is valid or not..
does this mean tmobile has got access to all credit cards in US….
how much do they pay to the credit card /banks to get these card number access

      They just run your number through the computer and if it comes up as yours then you are fine. It’s the equivalent of going into a store an swiping it on their counter. Most online companies do this for online payments, it’s normal.
