I seem to have crashed my pc and after it is powered on and displays the hp logo i now only see a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I am guessing some type or reformat and reinstall will be necessary to get it back to working order i have a copy of a hp windows xp sp2 disk a friend of mine had from another laptop, but that disk is not loading it is just taking me back to the blank black screen with flashing cursor if some one could guide me on doing a fresh reformat with out disk or somewhere i can down load and save to floppy or cdrom that would be great. I really need help and not sure what to do.

What your friend may have is just the SP2 UPGRADE disk and NOT the Actual WNDOWS XP disk
IF it is indeed the Windows XP OS disk, then you most likely need to go into your BIOS and set it to BOOT FROM DVD/CD drive
