Registry errors in computers…What exactly causes these errors? Why do they occur so often? I’ve always had some kind of program running in my computer that delete these errors. I have PC Tools Registry Mechanic which apparently do find these errors and repairs ‘em for me but, my question is not about the program, these do a fine job…my question is about these so-called registry errors. How come these occur so often? What exactly causes these errors?? It seems as though everyday I turn on my compuer there always seems to be a new list of registry errors to be cleaned out.

Whenever you install a program, entries are made in the registry. When you uninstall or move a program, sometimes the uninstall procedure overlooks some registry items and they become “dead”, or pointing to nothing.
I use the free Glary Utilities to keep a handle on my registry.

Most registry errors occur because of 'fragments' of programs that get left over after they've been uninstalled. They can also be because of faulty updates, incompatible programs, crash files, and an assortment of things that leave behind dead ends.
Use registry compacting tools along with optimizers like CCleaner to get rid of these problems. System Mechanic Pro is a great option here.

Like others have said, some uninstalls will leave entries in the registry.
I’m in the business and have found that most rigs that came in with trashed registries were the result of people right-clicking and deleting programs instead of properly uninstalling them. To help not get registry errors always click on the program and see if it has its own uninstall feature and use that before you use “add/remove” programs to uninstall it.
