My fiance recently got a used Dell laptop. It was working fine, but recently started running very slow and the wireless keeps saying there are no networks in station mode. When I switch it to access mode it says the range is excellent, but when I try to open ie it says it’s not connected. Either that, or it says it has limited or no connectivity.
I tried going into system restore, but there are zero access points. I wanted to start clean and reformat, but every time I attempt to install my Dell recovery CD it says windows can not reinstall, because my computer is already running a newer version. Also, I have windows live one care and it says the laptop is in fair working condition, but whenever I run a scan to repair the problems, nothing happens to improve???
Any ideas?

what you have to do is format the hard drive, the easiest way to do this is to make a windows xp startup disk, go into dos and type format C:
and then it will ask you a couple of questions (self explainitory) and then it will take about 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the drive then the dell cd should work
