Because my Windows XP has gotten very sluggish I want to completely reload it. When I try to do so with the Windows XP system CD I get back a message saying the XP version currently loaded is newer than the one on the CD. Is there any work-around to bypass this problem so I can reload XP?

Check the CD is a bootable one and will run the install process… because after you do the following you won’t have an OS on your PC:
1) back up any files you want
2) Format the C:\ drive
3) Boot the CD
4) Install Windows.
or
1) Back up any files you want
2) Boot the CD
3) Choose to install Windows
4) Delete the existing disk partition
5) Create a new partition of the same size and format it
6) Install Windows

Dude, don’t go through all of that. Try defragmenting and cleaning the registry first. That should fix any performance problems.
