I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, it needs to be renewed on 8th July, thing is, Kaspersky 2010 is released on 17th July.
I dont see the point in buying another 2009 key, when the new version is out 9 days later - but then if I wait, i'll be 9 days without virus protection ![]()
What I need to know is this: If I buy the 2009 version again, will I be adequatly protected for the year? Surely the 2010 version is better?
One more thing, I originally bought a 3 user licence, only 2 were used, so technically i still have a key for the 2009 version. Could i use that to cover me for the few days till i get the 2010 version?
Thanks for reading.

Why pay for AV when there is lots of good free programs?

the virus definition database will most likely be the same, but i presume a newer version of the antivirus might just run more memory efficiently. its really up to you if you want to wait, but it doesn't really matter if your without protection for 9 days as long as your not downloading to much stuff for random websites you'll be fine. as for the extra license key, just put it in and see if it works or not, i dont think it will work because when they sell you a key its activated instantly and you have a year from purchase date but give it a shot i might be wrong.

I believe if you go ahead and renew up until the new version release date, you will be updated to the newer version…. I think… And no, all the keys will have the same expiration date however many you use…or not.
GOOD LUCK !!!
EDIT: I'm pretty sure the 2010 version will be offered to you if you decide to renew ONLINE … The July 17 date is just for the general public release (buy in stores)…

A free upgrade from 2009 to 2010 *should* be part of your license. You should be able to use your license on either 2009 or 2010. Renew your current subscription before it expires and then simply install 2010 when it is released.
And to answer your other question, no, you cannot use your third (unused) license to extend your subscription. Licenses are valid only to their expiry date; regardless of whether they have been used or not.
