You have to log in as administrator by opening Command Prompt and typing:
net user administrator /active:yes
Then restart
Take ownership of the file you want to replace and rename it to a .bak file, then move your new file into the system32 folder
Though I warn you that the authui.dll bitmaps cannot be edited for all practical purposes–if you delete the bitmaps or replace them with editing ones Vista won’t logon again. So if you are going to try, you should create a restore point first. You can however edit the certain parts of the UFILE resources (only numbers preceding “rp”) to make the images on the logon screen disapear or move them around on the screen (if thats what you’re trying to do).
