Hey, I installed the very first Roller Coaster Tycoon on my Hp Pavillion dv6000. I was addicted to this game when I was younger and wanted to enjoy it again, but it keeps freezing my computer! I can play inside the game window fine (for the most part) but when I minimize or close it, everything freezes up. Well…kind of. My mouse will still move and; when I minimized the game, I saw my internet explorer homepage (because that was opened) and the news stories continue to move. It's as if things keep going, I just can't interact with them as it won't let me click on anything! Please, I would love to play this game without problems!
A few more details:
HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop
Vista Home Premium (OS)
Graphics Card: DirectX10
Also: The problem isn't that I had another program running (IE) because it has frozen up when I closed the game and was taken to my desktop with nothing else running.

This may sound funny but your graphics card is TOO strong. The older games have to play on old equipment. Yeah it would help if you were running it on 2000 or maybe XP…Vista is just too advanced for that kind of software.

Yeah, I also have this problem. My dad and I used to play it almost all day. My sister was interested into it too. Ah memories. I also really want to enjoy it again. But mine also freezes up. I guess the graphics card is too strong. If I lower the graphics settings and if it works I'll let you know. Had almost 300 guests until it froze. Darn! Note: First level I was on.
If you plan on getting Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 then you'll have a lot more serious problems cause that game is a big memory hole leaker. If you have all of the requirements for that game then good luck. It'll freeze up every 15 minutes and if your lucky 2 hours. I have all of the games in the series. Hope it all goes well for you.
