I was running on a newer hardrive, and then I realised I had to get some old files from my other hardrive, to the new one. For some reason they don’t work together; so I unplugged my new one, and put in the old one, which was fine.
But then when I went to plug back in the new one, it booted up, showed the ‘windows xp’ loading screen, then just before the ‘welcome’ screen is supposed to come up, I got a message saying:
“lsass.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because SAMLIB.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
I’ve looked on the internet a bit to find stuff out about this ’samlib.dll’ file, but I’m still confused as what to do.
At the moment I am now running my old hardrive, but I want the problem on my new one sorted, can anyone help!?

Ok, I think we can get this sorted out for you.Hopefully, you can start your computer with the new hard drive in safe mode.Put the new hard drive back in,when you start the computer,as soon as you see the screen press F8.That will take you into safe mode, you want to choose safe mode with networking so you can use the internet.Type that file name just like you have it into google.A safe, easy place to download the file is http://www.nodevice.com it’s on the first page on google. You will need to put the file into C\Windows\system 32 and then you will need to register it.You do that by clicking start, then run, then typing in regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\SAMLIB.dll click ok and a box should come up telling you it succeeded.Make sure you leave a space between 32 and C when you type it in.After you see it say it succeeded, restart your computer and you should be fine.
