Regardless, what you think and would do, for the sake of these tests, always tell on your friends and never pull them aside and take care of it. They want to know you are honest, and telling on your friends and co-workers is being honest. Even though they know chances are you won't in real life.

You must remember that, in the world of ethics, there is no room for any unit cohesion. This means that, regardless of what you would really do, you must answer along the "prescribed course." You will remain employed longer, of course, if you actually follow the course as well.
You would notify your supervisor, if you were strictly adhering to the stereotypical code of ethics, though most people would pull them aside and say "WTH are you doing? Put it back." It's one of the hardest questions to answer honestly, because nobody wants to be a 'rat,' but ultimately that's what's required of you as a security officer or law enforcement officer.
You can head of a great many problems by letting everyone know ahead of time "Do NOT put me in a position where I have to lie for you, because I won't."
Hint: Not always, but whenever "notify a supervisor" is one of the questions, it's worth a second look.
