Hello, i was prompted by windows update to download the service pack 3 for my windows XP pro. I do not have an external hard drive but i am not going to risk downloading this without a sufficient back up.
If I back up my computer on by regular /H drive, will i be able to restore my computer to its regular state if something goes wrong with the service pack? Also, how will i be able to return to my orgiginal state if something goes wrong?
wait, so you cant install 3rd party applications if they werent approved by Windows!?
Wow that's bullshit
Is there anything that makes this service pack worthy of downloading?

I use XP Service Pack 3 and never had any problems with it! It is better than the other Service Pack releases! Just use it!

1. I've updated at least least 100 PC's to service pack 3 without a single instance of a problem.
2. Windows restore or using the "R" repair a windows install from your XP disk.

I have installed SP3 on a few of my computers- and i haven’t had to back up because nothing went wrong. As long as your computer doesn’t shut off while your installing SP3 you should be fine. Now if your not sure about installing SP3 i’ll give you my opinion. I don’t like SP3 it’s given me a lot of headaches and not any noticeable improvement. One of the annoying changes in SP3 is that you can’t install software that hasn’t undergone Windows logo testing (aka microsoft doesn’t want you using software they haven’t tested) It can be very very inconvienient.
