I got a new laptop for my birthday in April but as of last week it’s running pretty slow. I’m getting some error messages, one of them that _wuser32.dll has a problem with it.
I know that user32.dll is an essential file but I’ve never heard of this "wuser". Is this some kind of virus function in disguise, or some Microsoft update, or what? I can’t tell if it’s what’s slowing my computer down or not. I feel weird about it being there but I’m also afraid to delete it.
If anybody knows more than I do about computers (and I do know a little bit–just not enough), please help me out!

Dll files are a part of vast library that contains code and data that is shared by many programs. This helps to produce speed and memory efficiency in your operating system by reusing the same code or file to run many functions by various programs. An error occurs when program aren’t allowed to access this code.
Here is an easy to follow tutorial:

I’m a PC technician (Microsoft certified, even) and have dealt with this before. The _wuser32.dll file by itself is just fine. However you might want to run a registry cleaner to make sure it’s not corrupted.
In any case, it sounds like you’ve probably got some kind of registry problem. (The registry is where executable files keep their shortcuts, so that they can work without taking over and bogging down your computer.)
Since your computer is new (at least I’m assuming it is), then you likely had (or have) some kind of virus, Trojan, spyware, etc. that has messed up your registry in one way or another.
I will be honest, I hate looking at registries and figuring out what goes there and what doesn’t. Any PC tech you take it to will, too. The best registry cleaning software I’ve found so far is called RegZooka, you can get a free scan from their site: http://www.regzooka.com.
