I can install the sims, but after 10 seconds of it loading the neighborhood screen, it ‘does not respond’.
I’ve tried downloading the patch (I have a CD not a DVD) but it comes up with an error.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista Basic.
Is there anything I can do?

Try right clicking on the Sims 2 icon and click ‘Run as administrator’.

Here is an article directly from Ea’s Tech Help section regarding playing the game in Vista:

If you try what the other person told you to try and you are still having problems, then maybe read what’s in that link. Hopefully one or the other will help you. Good luck!

I found a way to play older Sims games on Vista. When you insert the cd, it will ask to install it or open files. Select open files. Then right-click on the setup file (do not open it yet) Select properties on the menu. Select compatibility at Windows XP service pack 2. Also select run as administrator. Then open the setup file and install. It worked for me. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Hope this helps.
