When I hit play on the welcome screen, a window pops up saying "The application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/system32/d3dx9_31.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." It won’t open the game and the Sims website didn’t help at all.

I did buy it. I was able to play it before but my comp got a virus so I installed it on another one and that’s what I got. I don’t have the reciept anymore though because I got it months ago.

Hi. I dont really know a definate answer, but i’m pretty sure that something that is a "dll c" file is something important to load the game. i would say returning the disc, or if you downloaded it try another version. hope i helped
