slow computer?

June 21st, 2008 · 4 Comments

well here are my symtoms slow startup, slow app startup, slow gamming and i have major freezing/ crashing

i have over 100 gigs free space, ive done spyware, malware, trojans, virus scans in safemode and found nothing. I've also defragmented after the scans,i've fixed my registry and deleted unwanted programs and prevented unwanted programs from starting when i start my computer.
I've also unistalled programs that i think were the problem but didn't really help. anyway it starts doing this after my pc crashes i've noticed that haven't gotten blue screen yet but i know its inevitable. Also when i see my stuff i see that my hard drive light is always on(as i said before it happens after my compy crashes

my specs are
-2.42 ghz processor from amd 64 multiplier at x12
-ASUSTek motherboard (standard)
-1 gig ram
-and ati 9550 videocard

plz help and also i can't system restore to a previous state because for some reason it wont do it no matter what day i choose
no my cpy isnt overclocked i have not over clocked anything in my computer dont really want to risk it thats my original cpu speed fyi
i got norton and spyeraser from uniblue which detected many but found no solution to my problem

Have you overclock the CPU? I think multiplier on 12 for x64 CPU is kind of high. Also if you are running Vista other than home basic your memory is in the minimum.

Go to PCpitstop.com and use one of their free scans. It should give you an idea of what is bogging it down.

the problem is most likely a virus…i know u mentioned that u scanned ur computer but if ur hard drive is always on then im almost certain it is a virus,(unless u programed ur computer to constantly have ur hard drive on then that's a different story)
what program did u use to scan b/c i currently have mcafee, nortan, avast, and spybot on my computer (never running them all at once since they'll cancel each other) and when i first hint something may be wrong ill simultaneously run all of them, where three of these virus protections won't detect one will.

u can attain all of these programs for free other than nortan which should be sufficient enough to detect any problem that may be transpiring in ur pc
