recently i have noticed that when i watch videos online on my laptop, such as on youtube, or play any online games the playback of the video is always choppy and stutters. the first 10 seconds will run smoothly but then the video will become slow and lag, eventhough the sound is playing back smoothly. when i am playing online games, the same applies.
I know this is not a problem with my registry as i clean it regularly so it is clutter free, i monitor the background processes running and they are only the ones i need, so that cannot be the problem. It is not a problem with the internet service provider because when i play the same videos and games on the family computer, the playback will be very smooth.
i do use window blinds and i use a dock on my desktop instead of having icons. i also use winlogon to change the log on screen, could these processes be slowing down my online experience on my laptop?
laptop specs:
Win XP home, sp2 (2002)
cpu is 2.40 GHz
1GB of RAM
intel pentium 4

Your computer sucks ass, that's why. Tell mommy or daddy not to pick some random computer out of a catalogue next time.

click on start then run…type in msconfig and hit enter..click on the start up tab near the top right…everything you see here that has a checkmark starts when the computer starts…for example…ctfmon….now open a website http://www.sysinfo.org…..and click on full start up at the bottom right…now type in the entries from msconfig that are checked exactly how you see them..capital letters..spaces etc…..sysinfo will tell you what the entry is and if it needs to be running….only leaves anti virus and other important things checked….after you have gone through the list make sure you click apply and reboot..then put a checkmark in the box to not show the msconfig on reboot…this should make your computer alot quicker…cheers

Your computer seems to have good enough specifications, its all that crap you're running in the background. Go to Start>Run and type in msconfig the run window. Go to the startup tab and uncheck everything. You should also scan your computer for malware.
