My laptop is running very slow and is constantly freezing. Im guessing its because I don’t have enough memory. My laptop has 512 mb, which i know isn’t a lot, and it uses around 330 mb, so it uses around 80% physical memory. It uses windows vista, which i hear is pretty slow. So i just wanted to ask whether its slow because of not enough memory or other problems. It would be helpful if u give tips on how to make it run a little faster.

Delete any files you don’t need, and any programs clogging up your C drive. Then empty your recycle bin and your temporary internet files (internet > tools > options).
Also, defragmenting your computer will help, and run a virus check. You may have some spyware/adware/a virus making your computer run slow.
It is likely it is your memory, though. You can buy more memory for cheap! :]
Hope this helps.

There is no way Vista will run smooth on 512 MB of RAM. However, there are always things to try: use CCleaner to delete all the junk files; use Startup Mechanic to determine which progs start with the OS and disable those you don't actually use; scan for malware with SpyBot S&D; defragment drives with Auslogic Disk Defrag; clean your Windows registry with Eusing Registry Cleaner; make sure you have latest stable drivers for all your hardware. All utilities above are freely available on the Internet.
