So im trying to uninstall AVG antivirus and when i tried uninstalling it using the programs & features thing in windows vista , it gave me this stupid error and told me to restart . so i did and i tried uninstalling it again but still. so i tried deleting the whole folder in the program files folder. and it kept telling me some files are open in another application . so i terminated them from the task manager , but there is like this ONE small file that wont go , i cant find it in the running processes and i dunno what to do , i need AVG removed so i can install kaspersky. pelase help , andf forgive my bad english.

You shut the processes off in task manager…while you are in task manager did you check to see if any related services were running?
You could also try booting in safe mode, (chances are the process won't be running while in Safe Mode), and deleting the file.

Normal Uninstall
The first thing you want to try is to locate AVG in the Add/Remove Control Panel and try to remove it from there. Follow these instructions to accomplish this.
1) Click on Start, Control Panel
2) Open Add/Remove Programs
3) Find AVG in the Programs list and highlight it
4) Click Remove and follow the prompts to uninstall AVG Free

If it still doesn’t work..
The recommended procedure is a time consuming one. You must download the latest version of AVG from the website, and then run it.

have a look in control panel and see if its still there and try and uninstall it again,i had AVG instaled and uninstalled it last week,had a few probs but i went thru the uninstallin process again,and switched my pc off at the wall cos my pc sometimes got a mind of its own.

this is what you need to do, reinstall AVG otherwise this won’t work as you need all the components of AVG on for this to work
http://free.avg.com reinstall it and then go to http://www.revouninstaller.com this program will get rid of ANY program, use advanced mode and after the uninstallation completes it will find any left over files select them all and delete them
it will even work if the uninstaller can’t complete you simply go to uninstallation window cancel it and then let revo do the rest

Try Revo uninstaller or windows install cleanup.
You may need to reinstall AVG first.

There ar some programes you cant remove it by manual way so there are some prgrams for deleting this programs and you can search in :
