When I checked my SPAM folder this morning, I noticed emails with my email address in the FROM field. So it appeared that I had sent the email, when of course I didn’t. Are these types of emails just going to me, or is someone using my email address to send emails to a larger community? This is concerning.

I get messages like that too. Spammers can doctor messages to look like they come from anybody. That’s their way of getting the messages past email spam filters. I wouldn’t worry about it any more than you worry about any other spam. Just delete it without opening it and you will be fine.

they’re not just going to you. just change your password and problem solved. i found something like that in my email. i marked it as SPAM and then went in and changed my password to something NOBODY can figure out and that was it. i found out later a few people i know got them from me. if whoever hacked you was smart they wouldn’t send it to your own in-box because that makes it so easy to get caught.

Right click on the E-mail, go down to properties, left click on properties, left click on details and look for the IP address of the sender, which you will find under ‘received from’. The sender can be identified under ‘originating IP address”. Contact the server company and complain that their member is sending out spam. Give them the originating IP address, or forward the whole E-mail to them.
