spam spam and more spam email !!! HELP!? (i have aol)?

I know all about spam but because I am a dummy I put my email address in some "work at home" sites cause I was curious about "work at time" ventures. NOW I get tons of spam daily. First I tried the setting where I only get email from people that are on my address list. All the rest was put in the spam folder. I didn't want to do that anymore because some people from work and else where may try to contact me (and I don't have their emails!) so I can't do that option. Then I tried blocking all the spammer addresses for each message that is spam. But I still get tons! Is there anything else I can do or am I screwed?!?! I use AOL 9.0.
