Ok so i had to reformat my computer and now i dont have any protection against spyware. Well i am getting all sorts of nonsense popping up about you need spyware protection now and what not so I know its infected. I did a free scan and lots of things poped up as infected. SO does anyone know of a free way to get my computer running right again? i know you can scan for free but is there anything out there that will get rid of my problems for free? thanks.

I dont know of any for free but you can go to walmart and get a 2008 Norton Anti-virus, but their like $40. Thats what I use and Its great

I personally use Spybot and Adaware which are awesome and i have not had any spyware EVER. They both have free versions which is what I have.

YES! of course there is. In Fact thats all I use is free anti-virus/spyware/adware programs. Pay ones like Norton are crap. You can get AVG anti-vurs (!!Awesome!!) Spybot-Search and Destroy, and Avira Antivir. I use these everyday and never had a virus or a problem : -)

their is a lot of free stuff out their but the only thing that would fix my dads computer was kaspersky i just did a trial and we liked it so much we bought it but we got a bunch of rebates so all we had to pay for was shipping

1. For your Anti-Virus……(Always use only 1 A-V…You must NEVER use more than one anti-virus, Even an expired anti-virus can cause a major conflict…you MUST uninstall any old anti-virus products)
For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than many of "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. And did I mention that it's free!

You should try two free programs: AVG 7.5 Free Edition and Windows Defender (Microsoft). Putting either in your browser/search should find them.
Avg 7.5 can be set to update its virus lists and its programming daily; so can Defender. AVG does a good job at finding and removing most viruses. Defender does, too, plus find spy-ware and ad-ware.
I've used them for years. Tried other virusscans and ended up with a crashed computer followed by expensive reformatting and Windows being restarted by my IT guy.
I do not work for AVG OR Microsoft…I'm just elling you what works for me.
